What do we do

Metropolregion macht mobil

The Metropolregion is working on the basis of work programs (MAP 2011 and MAP 12-13) which were in each case adopted for the period of two years. The new program Metropolregion zusammenwachsen was established in September 2015 with a term of five years.

The Metropolregion Hannover Braunschweig Göttingen Wolfsburg is committed to the four topic areas “Transport and Electric Mobility”, “Energy and Resource Efficiency”, “Culture and Creative Industry” and “Health Economy”. The Metropolregion Hannover Braunschweig Göttingen Wolfsburg is one of the most important regions in Europe concerning the deployment of electric vehicles and the use of renewable energy. The cities and districts of the Metropolregion decided to cover their energy demands for electricity, heat and mobility completely from renewable energy sources until 2050. In this context, several model projects of the city-country-cooperation have been initiated. Since 2015, the project EnerKlim is monitoring the effects of climate change on the generation of renewable energies.
